Some 4,900 yellow-spotted river turtles, also called tracajás, have been launched into the Igapó-Açu River, in Brazil.

The threatened species lives in river basins in northern South America, and the Federal College of Amazonas has been operating tasks geared toward boosting turtle numbers for a decade.

In that point, greater than 70,000 turtles have been let out to dwell within the wild.
