Two-time Paralympic medallist Chris Skelley has introduced his retirement from judo.

The 31-year-old, who’s visually impaired, received gold within the -100kg occasion in Tokyo in 2021 and adopted that up with bronze within the +90kg division in Paris final yr.

“It is a powerful determination however the fitting determination” he stated. “I’ve had an incredible time doing the game that I like.

“Judo has saved me. It has given me goal and the life I’ve at all times needed and I’ll at all times be grateful.”

Skelley, who was born in Nottingham however raised in Hull, took up judo aged 5. He began to lose his sight aged 17, forcing him to finish his apprenticeship as a mechanic.

He joined the British Judo set-up aged 19 and received European and world titles earlier than his Paralympic triumph.
